Forge of Empire Mary Stuart quest, 2016

On July 21st, 2016 a new historical quest line starts. Quest line will follow the life of Mary, Queen of Scots, who lived a fascinating life and she left her mark in Scotland, England and France’s history.

All quests must be completed by 28th of July, 2016. You will be rewarded with unique portrait of Mary Stuart and a Shrine of Knowledge if you’ll manage to finish all quests on time.

1 Mary was Queen of Scotland and reigned about 460 years ago. She was one of the most tragic Queens in British history and Her Majesty Mary has kindly requested that your listen to her story!

Finish 10 productions in production buildings
2 Mary Stuart was born in Scotland on December 8, 1542. Due to the death of King James V, Mary became Queen six days after her birth! Unfortunately, she didn’t get to enjoy it as her mother ended up acting as regent on her behalf.

3 Mary’s mother was French and Scots had a longstanding alliance with France, so Mary was betrothed to the 4-year-old French heir. At the age of 5 Mary was sent to France, where she grew up in luxurious French court.

4 First marriage. In 1558, she married Francis, the eldest son of French King Henry II and Catherine de Medici. Unfortunately, this marriage did not last lond as Francis died after only two years of marriage. Mary was inconsolable and returned to Scotland.

5 Second marriage. In 1565 Mary married Henry Stuart, Lord Darnley, an English nobleman and also her cousin. The bridegroom was proclaimed Henry, King of Scots. Queen Elizabeth I of England wasn’t too happy about the union.

6 Powerful Enemies. Mary soon became disenchanted with Henry. He had become overbearing, arrogant and carried away by his new title. He made enemies of powerful nobles, who plotted to take him out.

7 Third Marriage. Their plan worked and Lord Darnley was murdered. Mary’s involvement is unclear, but suspicious were raised when she married the main suspect in her husband’s murder – James Hepburn, Earl of Bothwell – only three months later.

8 Locked Away. This union angered the people who suspected Bothwell’s involvement in the murder of their King. The Scottish nobility forced Mary to abdicate in July 1567. She was imprisoned in Lochleven Castle and her young son James was made King.

Delete 4 units Build spearfighters’ barrack and produce and delete 4 units in case you don’t have spare army units to delete.
9 Escape. In 1568, Mary escaped from Lochleven Castle. In a desperate bid to keep her throne she raised an army and fought Regent Moray at the village of Langside, now part of Glasgow. the battle was lost, and Mary fled with her closest supporters.

10 England. Despite her supporters’ pleas to sail to France, Mary decided to go to England. She hoped her cousin Elizabeth I would help restore her to her throne. After a warm welcome, Mary was put under house arrest.

11 Treason. After 18 years of trying to obtain her freedom, she was charged and found guilty of taking part in a plot to kill Elizabeth. Mary was beheaded at Fotheringhay Castle in 1587. She was 44 years old.

That’s it. It is very easy quest line and the cost of getting Shrine of Knowledge is much cheaper comparing with the price in FoE Soccer Cup.
